MARIACHI DE JOLIET

The Joliet School District 86 Mariachi program was established in 2019 by Christine Adelmann and Rachael Tatar.  Over the years and despite Covid it has grown exponentially.  Soon the directors were getting requests from parents and students to start a group for those that had graduated from the district.  We loved the idea of having an ensemble for not only our graduates, but also for their families and community members.  In the summer of 2022 we started Mariachi de Joliet with 15 students and community members.  We were lucky enough to be introduced to Ron Romero at the Illinois Rock and Roll Museum who provided us with a rehearsal space in their beautiful facility.  We found a group of dedicated instructors that were willing to donate their time to building this group which now consists of about 50 members.   The members range in age from 8 to adults and the group serves the city of Joliet and several surrounding communities.  The Joliet community embraced our ensemble from the beginning.  We frequently play at city wide events, park districts, libraries, quinceaneras, parties, conferences and music festivals.
